Cassandra Whitaker (they/she) is a non-binary trans fem writer from the rural south. Their work has been published in various literary magazines and journals in the United States, and internationally, including Michigan Quarterly Review, BODY, The Rumpus, Mississippi Review, Oxford Poetry, Plume, Conjunctions, and The Bennington Review, among others. Whitaker is the winner of the Pink Poetry Prize from Great River Review, the Dogfish Head Poetry Prize, and two awards from the Delaware Press Association for poetry. Wolf Devouring a Wolf Devouring A Wolf is forthcoming from Jackleg Press in 2025.

Whitaker has received fellowships for arts education and integration from the Virginia Commission for the Arts, The Maryland State Arts Council, Maryland Humanities, and The Witter Bynner Foundation for poetry.
